Springvalley Elementary School is lucky to have the support of our fantastic Indigenous Advocate, Mrs. Naomi Menard. 

The role of the Advocate is to provide cultural, social, emotional and academic support.

Throughout the year Mrs. Menard will offer and assist many diverse supports to students, school staff, and parents such as:

  • In class academic support
  • Provide referrals for cultural requests
  • Facilitate connections with Indigenous Youth Wellness Worker
  • Cultural programs at lunch, after school and field trips
  • Provide nutritional programs such as:
    • Breakfast Club
    • Snacks
    • Backpack food bundles
  • Traditional Indigenous crafts and arts:
    • ​sewing
    • beading
    • painting
    • seed bead looming
    • tassels
  • Traditional Games
  • Clothing Closet
  • Liaison between home and school, parents and staff
  • Work with family members and the school team to apply for Jordan's Principle applications, when needed.
