Welcome, Skyhawks!
I was born and raised in Kelowna (I even started my school experience in the Rutland neighbourhood). I am married and have four children (our oldest was born in 2013 and the youngest in 2020). We are an active family who love swimming, water polo, and soccer.
I have served in leadership roles at Black Mountain Elementary, École Peter Greer Elementary, and at the district level in the Indigenous Education Department. Previous to school administration, I was an Elementary School Counsellor in the Rutland Zone of Schools and a High School Teacher at Rutland Senior Secondary. I love learning! I completed a doctorate degree in education in 2020 around the topic of digital wellness and children.
When it comes to my beliefs around education and children, I have three key beliefs:
- Schools need to be safe spaces where children know the expectations, and also know they are loved.
- Literacy skills (reading and writing) are critically important and at the forefront of all academics (even numeracy!).
- I want all of our kids to see themselves as capable leaders and problem solvers who will have the necessary skills to solve the problems of the future.
At SVE, we are all fiercely passionate about Skyhawk identity.
We are kind.
We are learners.
We are leaders.
We are readers.
And we are all mathematicians!
Please give me a call or drop by anytime.
Sincerely,
Dr. Jeremy Sanbrooks
Principal of SVE
